Rodney A. Smolla
Mr. Smolla is of counsel to the firm. Mr. Smolla was the Arthur B. Hanson Professor of Law at the College of William and Mary's Marshall-Wythe School of Law. Since September, 1998 he has been appointed the George E. Allen Professor of Law, an endowed chair, at the T. C. Williams School of Law of the University of Richmond. Mr. Smolla graduated from Yale University in 1975 and received his law degree from Duke University Law School in 1978. He served as law clerk to the Honorable Charles Clark of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. Mr. Smolla writes and speaks on constitutional law issues and has delivered testimony before the United States Senate Judiciary Committee and the United States Civil Rights Commission. Mr. Smolla is active in litigation matters involving constitutional law. Mr. Smolla received the 1996 American Bar Association Silver Gavel Award for A Year in the Life of the Supreme Court, published in 1995 by Duke University Press.
